Starbucks begins new microfinance funding campaign

Starbucks, a company that has endured criticism as a corporate chain for putting smaller local coffee shops out of business, is launching a new program entitled “Create Jobs for USA”. The program focuses on the unemployment crisis, and the campaign relies on colorful wristbands as their primary marketing tactic. The bracelets, made in America and woven in red, white, and blue, are inscribed with the word “indivisible” on a metal charm and are available for purchase at Starbucks stores.

Proceeds will go to the Opportunity Finance Network, which is a non-profit that provides funds to several community development and microfinance organizations.

The following link to an article written by Claire Gordon provides more information about the new initiative.
