Connect or Join a University Club
If you are a student and would like to participate in your local microfinance club, do not hesitate to do so! Being part of a microfinance or development club could mean raising money for the organizations that are conducting microfinance both domestically and internationally. You might also take part in the 3-day $2 Challenge, voluntarily living on $2 a day or less, sleeping outside, and skipping showers to spread awareness about the conditions in which half of the world’s population lives. Your club may choose to host conferences and put on microfinance classes to introduce this tool to your local community. If you are a USD, PLNU or UCSD student your school already has a club that you can join. If you don’t belong to one of those schools, find out if your school has a microfinance club, and if it doesn’t, start one!
